The name Prescious Eze may not ring bells in the big society, but on facebook, his voice is one of the most vocal when it comes to pressing national issues, little wonder he commands such great army of facebook followers.
When I first encountered his 'tyrancy', I nearly lost my cool. With time though, I fell in love with his persona - patriotism. Funny thing is, for about three years or so, an addict I have become to his regular posts and comments section.
While taking a walk through facebook today, I stumbled on his latest update - an interesting story for sunday's leisure. Read and enjoy.
THIS MAY SOUND FUNNY, BUT IT MADE ME VERY PROUD.
Four weeks ago I went to buy food stuffs from one of the women I buy food items from and as I got home that day, I discovered that I took more PONMO than I paid for, just 50 more and as it is customary of me, I returned the woman's money two weeks later.
This was what happened.
Because the place is a bit far from home and my daily routes, it took another TWO-WEEKENDS to return to her shop and when I got there, bought all I came for and as I paid, I told her that I took one more (unknowingly) ponmo than I paid for the last time I came here and this is her money.
I gave her 50 Naira and she stood looking at me and I left.
Yesterday, I got back there as usual and as she saw me crossing from where I parked, she started pointing me to all the people who came to buy from her and as I wondered what she was telling them, I arrived and with excitement she said, brother you don come?
Welcome sir.
What do you want to buy?
I told her and she gave me all and as I paid, she started.
Brother, that thin you did last week shock me ooooo. That money small but I never see person return money for something wey em overtake for here, instead, dem go dey watch you to know when you no dey look so dem go collect everything without paying and go.
Everyday for here, nah so so so fight I dey fight with people wey dey thief my market for here.
Thank you brother.
I no know sey we still get better people for this naija.
THIS WAS MY RESPONSE!
I agree that you may never have known about it and I, because I didn't take it knowingly, may not have felt any guilt, but that extra PONMO, though taken in error, so long as I didn't pay for it, it would have benefited me NOTHING and it wouldn't have been a blessing at all. JUST LOOK AROUND YOU MADAM, THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, though in their little fractions, BUT THERE ARE.
What that singular action of mine did was to disabuse that woman's erroneous believe that there are no good people amongst us, just as the guy who returned my phone did to me concerning Muslims some weeks back.
I employ everyone therefore that we start, regardless of how small, just like this 50 naira, to showcase the true image of Nigeria and together, we'll make Nigeria that which we wish her to be FOR US.
Truth is, INTEGRITY has no TRIBE, COLOUR nor RELIGION, so, Nigeria is in our hands to MOULD the way we want.
Happy Sunday Guys.
